Investment Approach
ICP identifies new investment opportunities through in-house analysis and research to identify the macro forces affecting our markets - credit, interest rates and liquidity. Typically these elements are discussed and debated among the portfolio management team during daily interactions and formally at Tuesday Investment Committee meetings. From this basis, ICP investment teams initiate their respective bottom-up investment processes to hone in on value opportunities within their sectors based on each team's risk analysis measures.
Investment ideas are evaluated and tested by the respective teams in ongoing dialogue with the CIO. Those opportunities deemed attractive are presented during the weekly Investment Committee discourse and are evaluated within the context of the existing portfolio and against other investment options. Additional factors such as trading strategy, concentration limits, timeline to value capture, and hedging strategies are also evaluated.
Those that are consistent with the firm's macro view and offer the best risk adjusted return opportunities are executed by the respective investment team. Positions are input into the portfolio surveillance systems to be actively monitored and traded.
